HOW TO READ THE THREE GRAPHS

A quick guide for gardeners

Temperature & Humidity

Temperature tells you how warm or cool the air is.  Relative humidity tells you how much moisture is in the air.  Read them together to understand whether conditions are hot, cool, dry, or humid.

Air VPD — Vapor Pressure Deficit

VPD is a simple way to describe how strongly the air can pull moisture from plants.  A higher value means drier air and potentially faster water loss; a lower value means more humid air.  Here it is calculated from air temperature and relative humidity, not leaf temperature.

PPFD & DLI

PPFD: Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density
DLI: Daily Light Integral

PPFD shows how strong the plant-usable light is at a particular moment.  DLI adds that light up across the day, so it is a simple way to compare the total light received from one day to another.

You do not need to be a climate expert to use these graphs.

Choose a day or period in Climate & AI, use the one-click copy button, then paste the result into AI and start a conversation about what the conditions might mean for the plants you grow.

Reading note: The page uses published daily measurements and is not described as real-time data.  Conditions can differ across Kyoto and between individual gardens, balconies, streets and indoor spaces.
